Crafting Supplies Trends For 2019

Today I am sharing a little news that is off topic from my usual posts about parties and celebrations.

CRAFT SUPPLY & TOOL TRENDS FOR 2019

Don’t worry- I will be posting some party trends for this year soon but many of the trends in the craft industry that I am sharing today are definitely a cross over into decor you will see at birthdays and parties this summer.  So keep on reading for party inspiration!  Come up with your own unique party theme using any of these trends.

Before I share the latest crafting supplies and craft tool trends for 2019 to be on the lookout for throughout the year, I have big news and one word to share –

MERCARI

I am now selling craft supplies, cute stamps, dies, stickers, and embellishments on Mercari! Find me – HERE

Browsing  is best if you download the app and shop from your phone, but from a desktop works too!

Stop by and browse to find some trendy crafting supplies there!  Like these popular shaker dies-

Shaker stamps, dies and filler (sparkly confetti and sequins) are huge.  The big trend started in the UK, but it is quickly making its way here in the United States.  I see these cute coffee dies made into Starbucks gift card holders or tags with a pocket to give a gift to a friend or co-worker. Expect to see this becoming hugely popular over the year, and as we move closer to Christmas for fun handmade gift tags and holiday cards!

I made these snow filled shaker ornaments last Christmas and gave them to friends and family.  They loved them!

What else is trending?  Below is a super quick break down of what you can expect to see in my Mercari shop and everywhere in 2019.

Mermaids, unicorns, llamas, cute baby animals and woodland critters, fairies, gnomes, narwhals, cacti, hot air balloons, pineapples, flamingos, sugar skulls, teapots are all designs that have been trending since 2017 and are still popular and will continue to be over this year.  I offer ALL of these hot designs available in my Mercari shop right now too!

Along with the shaker and cactus trend, sloths are becoming big in stamping and die cutting.

Avocados, tacos, french fries, ice cream and other food and with punny ( funny puns/play on words) sentiments and phrases.

Cute little dogs, puppies and kittens too!

Toucans are showing up now in stamps and stickers alongside all the other tropical images like palm leaves and flamingos.

Detailed flower, butterfly and other images of nature in stamps that can be beautifully colored with markers or watercolor paints are already huge right now for spring and will be all summer long.

Additionally, hedgehogs, mermaid/animal mashups (mer-kitty, for example), marbling, animals wearing glasses, balloon dogs, sushi and other Asian foods and hand lettering are going to be popping up.
What do you think? Any trends that you will embrace?

Easter Banner DIY Project & Organization Ideas

Easter DIY Bunny Garland & Craft Room Organization

Are you ready for spring? Me too! After Christmas, I start to get the winter blues.  If you are a crafter, now is the best time to get all your spring projects done and get organized.   If you need some ideas for getting your craft room in tip top shape for making all those amazing projects, now is the best time to get organization projects done. Hop on over to my Pinterest board and click here- Let’s Get Organized

Today, is a double post too, as I am also sharing this easy and quick DIY Easter bunny banner project that you can get done before the temperatures warm up and we all get busy doing outside activities and projects.

Let’s get to it-

EASTER BUNNY BANNER – EASY DIY PROJECT

SUPPLIES:

  • Spring themed scrapbooking paper or Solid Cardstock (One 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheet per bunny or you can scale them down to cut two bunnies from 12″ x 12″ pages)
  • Silhouette Cutting Machine is needed for this project (or you can use the image below, scaled up and printed, and cut out as a tracing template)
  • Downloaded Silhouette Image #16784
  • Ribbon – Ric Rac or Satin Ribbon
  • Pom Poms (these can be handmade or purchased)
  • Hot Glue or Tacky Craft Glue

STEP-BY-STEP HOW TO:

1.) Cut your bunnies, either with a Cricut or Silhouette (Design number is for the Silhouette) cutting machine or use the image below to drop in Microsoft Publisher, scale it up and simple print it and cut it and use it as a trace template.  If using your Silhouette, you can remove the white circle, since you will be adding your own soft yarn pom poms on top of the cut bunnies.

2.) Add your yarn pom poms to the center of each bunny with either hot glue or tacky craft glue.  Allow each pom tail to dry before you assemble your banner.  If you don’t want to make your own pom poms out of yarn, most large retail chains or craft retail stores do sell fuzzy poms that would look great as well.

3.) You may punch holes, if you have a hole punch, across the top ears and thread your ric rac or satin ribbon in and out of the holes- or simply lay out all your rabbits horizontally over your ribbon and glue each of the back of the ears on top of the Ribbon.  Super easy! All done. Now you are ready to hang up your Easter bunny banner!

Today I am sharing an easy way to brighten up your Mermaid party and add some inexpensive colorful seashells!  While you could go with regular seashells straight out of the ocean- why not give your shells a color make over?  This project is super easy too!

How to Color Seashells
If you live near a beach or are vacationing at the beach this summer, fill up a bucket of shells and bring them home.  These would look great in a bucket at your mermaid party- or make something with them- add them to craft projects, wreaths, or a table centerpiece.  If you have no plans to go to the beach this year, no worries, you can purchase shells from most arts and crafts stores too.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
White Vinegar
White or Light-Colored Seashells
Food Coloring
Small Bowls
Spoon
Paper Towels
Easy Step-by-Step Directions:

1. Gather your shells and supplies.

2. Fill small bowls with a 5-6 drops of food coloring, one color per bowl.
Add about ⅓ cup of vinegar to each bowl.
Use a spoon to stir the vinegar and food coloring until combined.
Submerge your shells in your desired color and allow them to soak in the mixture for 1-3 hours.  This process is much like dying Easter eggs!

If you want lighter colors, shorten the soak time. If you want darker, more saturated color, leave the shells in longer.

3. Remove them from the dye and allow them to air dry on a paper towels, no blotting or rubbing is necessary.

Once completely air-dried, arrange your shells  anywhere at your mermaid party!

They look great in a clear glass vase, a bowl, glued to a wreath or party sign, or anywhere at the celebration!

You may notice that The Party Fetti Blog is not updated as often over the summer as I’ll be busy making many party decorations for summer birthdays, weddings, and other celebrations for my five Etsy shops.

This is my busiest time of year and so new blog posts and party inspiration only happens about once a month or so or when I have time in between my full-time graphic design work schedule and my weekly custom orders in my Etsy shops.

Subscribe by email and get new stunning party ideas in your email inbox every time I add new party inspiration! Add your email address in the subscribe box on the right hand side of my website page for emailed updates and never miss a new blog post!

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and today I have some stunning gift ideas that you can easily make yourself with paper flowers.  A few weeks ago, I shared some inspiring large scale flower backdrops and if you love these giant paper flowers, you can see that post – HERE

To make smaller paper flowers, you can use paper punches or metal dies to cut them in a cutting machine, such as a Sizzix Big Shot or a Cricut Cuttlebug.

However, if you don’t have a cutting machine and all the metal dies, paper and equipment – you can absolutely short cut some paper flower gifts by visiting my craft shop and order already cut flowers that you can easily assemble and add them to anything.

Stop by my shop for a variety of paper flowers here – READY SET CRAFT KITS

Below are several creative gift ideas you can make with paper flowers for your mother for Mother’s Day.

A beautiful handmade Mother’s Day card with 3-D flowers added on the front.

A paper flower wreath to hang on a door or wall inside the home.

A flower decorated birdhouse.

A flower monogram letter.

Instead of paper flowers, how about paper succulents as a table centerpiece.

A simple flower notebook and pin – perfect for a grocery list pad or a to do list notebook.

Framed wall art featuring handmade paper flowers will make your mother smile every day.

A flower bouquet that will never wilt would be the perfect Mother’s Day gift too!
