Pinwheels are perfect at any event, celebration or party and these Summer Designs coordinate to any themed birthday or baby shower.

This year I am only offering a limited supply of each set of designs in my shop- HERE

Pinwheels are perfect hanging on the wall behind the party table wall or draped across the front of the party table.

Pinwheels were cleverly incorporated as favors but still as part of the party table background at this butterflies and pinwheels party.  How fun and easy to create!

Pinwheels are also ideal as table centerpieces – add them to vases or recycled bottles.

Pinwheels are also perfect as wedding decorations- use them as table numbers or signs at a wedding or large event.  Give one to each of your guests at the reception check-in with their table number in the center of each pinwheel and then each guest can take a pinwheel home as a memorable keepsake from your wedding day.

Pinwheels are so fun on cakes and cupcakes too as toppers!

Cupcakes, polka dots and pinwheels go together perfectly!

Pinwheels and the beach are a great pair too for fun in the sun.

Tons of bright spinning pinwheels in all sizes are available in my shop – PINWHEEL PRETTIES

The ‘winter onederland’ party theme for a first birthday, is a bit dated and overdone now, so I wanted to share some unique and more out of the ordinary party ideas. I feel like winter babies get the short straw when it comes to their birthday party – most are indoor parties due to colder weather so these months limit outdoor parties and activities.

However, who says, you can’t draw on the beauty of winter and incorporate the surroundings of the season into a winter birthday party? The nutcracker parties, featured above and below with an emphasis on the color pink, are the perfect example for a girl’s birthday, especially if she loves dance or ballet.

Incorporating pastel colors will always pair well with a winter theme.  Snowflakes are of course traditional but not necessary to pull off a winter birthday party.

Be sure to get input from the birthday boy or girl- especially if they are older.  Teens usually want to help plan the party and even decorate!  Let them make some big decisions about the theme and decor each year – it’s a great way to teach them to be a great hostess too!

The soft pastels in the sweets and decor on this food table above, at this teen girl’s party, is fun and whimsical. The added cotton candy puffs on top of the cupcakes are so creative too!  Incorporating the sweater stockings adds an unusual table backdrop as well.

This narwhal party above is the perfect example of using a creative and trendy theme for a winter party. Narwhals have been gaining popularity as a spin off of the unicorn party theme and since they are winter creatures, they work well for a winter party.

Finally, this snowman themed party is traditional and perfect for a winter birthday. Wow! That snowman cake looks simple to make, yet stunning on the table, and yummy.

Black Panther Movie Party & Pete The Cat Book Party

Today I have two cat themed parties that will make you purr. . . because they are both cool cats!  Black Panther movie themed party and a Pete The Cat book themed party.

Black Panther, the movie, has been very popular this summer and what boy would not want this theme for his birthday party? A Black Panther party should feature elements of gold and black and be sure to incorporate the claw necklace design.  Cupcake toppers with the panther heads are perfect on sweet treats.

This tiered cake is more suitable at a party table where height and a centerpiece is needed for the set up.

These cookies are stunning too.

Next up is that other cool cat – Pete The Cat.

Pete The Cat party themed birthday is perfect for a boy or girl and will most likely appeal to a younger age.

Adding in the popularity of the balloon trend at parties would be perfect with these designer created cat balloon sculptures. They make a big and tall statement.

Don’t forget to feature the books at the party too.  They can be a great background at the food party table or displayed anywhere.

I DO WEDDING & BRIDAL DESIGNS

ONCE UPON A HOME DESIGNS

Now for some stunning summer party ideas that you can pull off at your summer birthday celebration, barbecue, baby shower, fundraiser, corporate event, or just about any type of summer outdoor activity.  You can’t go wrong with what is trending right now: flamingos, pineapples, unicorns, and mermaids for popular themes but why not pick a party theme that pairs perfectly with the season.  Nothing says SUMMER like watermelons, cherries, strawberries, and lemons! So here we go.

Oh watermelons- the perfect healthy snack for a party and a wonderful theme for any birthday party in the summer.

Cherries on top- what a fabulous setup on a rolling cart for this cherry themed party.  This cart is the perfect size if you are hosting in a small space too.  I highly recommend using what you have- a small bar cart, a dining room buffet, china cabinet, even a fun painted dresser can be a fun piece of furniture and work as a serving table at your party.

You can’t go wrong with strawberries and ice cream in the summer and an ice cream sprinkles bar is so fun for the kids.  While Strawberry Shortcake is the commercial version, why not go with strawberries in general and at this time of year, it is easy to find an abundance of strawberry party decorations.  The ice cream party theme offers so many color options – bright rainbow or soft pastel colors pair well with this theme.

Finally, a lemonade stand at an outdoor event would be perfect for keeping guests refreshed and yellows, pinks and white are so easy to pull off.  I love lemonade themed events paired with daisies or sunflowers for even more pop at a summer outing.  Lemonade stands are a great addition to a big barbecue, a festival, corporate employee event, and they are also popular at outdoor wedding receptions. Both kids and adults love lemonade in the summer heat.

How to Color Seashells
If you live near a beach or are vacationing at the beach this summer, fill up a bucket of shells and bring them home.  These would look great in a bucket at your mermaid party- or make something with them- add them to craft projects, wreaths, or a table centerpiece.  If you have no plans to go to the beach this year, no worries, you can purchase shells from most arts and crafts stores too.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
White Vinegar
White or Light-Colored Seashells
Food Coloring
Small Bowls
Spoon
Paper Towels
Easy Step-by-Step Directions:

1. Gather your shells and supplies.

2. Fill small bowls with a 5-6 drops of food coloring, one color per bowl.
Add about ⅓ cup of vinegar to each bowl.
Use a spoon to stir the vinegar and food coloring until combined.
Submerge your shells in your desired color and allow them to soak in the mixture for 1-3 hours.  This process is much like dying Easter eggs!

If you want lighter colors, shorten the soak time. If you want darker, more saturated color, leave the shells in longer.

3. Remove them from the dye and allow them to air dry on a paper towels, no blotting or rubbing is necessary.

Once completely air-dried, arrange your shells  anywhere at your mermaid party!

They look great in a clear glass vase, a bowl, glued to a wreath or party sign, or anywhere at the celebration!

You may notice that The Party Fetti Blog is not updated as often over the summer as I’ll be busy making many party decorations for summer birthdays, weddings, and other celebrations for my five Etsy shops.

This is my busiest time of year and so new blog posts and party inspiration only happens about once a month or so or when I have time in between my full-time graphic design work schedule and my weekly custom orders in my Etsy shops.
