Pink & Gold Party Decorations

PINK & GOLD PARTY DECORATIONS

Today I am sharing a roundup of stunning and shimmering gold and pink parties.  Gold in metallic foil and glitter is still very ‘IN’ and looks perfect when paired with all shades of pink. These painted wood letters for a first birthday are a perfect example of a unique centerpiece for the birthday table.  Yet the O-N-E does not detract from the main focus, the princess birthday cake.

This unicorn party is fun, whimsical, yet sophisticated with the flowers and pearl filler in the glass globe vases. That cake looks too beautiful to eat!

Next up is a birthday party for a two year old featuring a gold glitter cut number cake topper and heart cake toppers. Simple yet classic.

Giant paper flowers as a party table background speaks volumes at this party.  Paired with small flowers on the gold painted and glitter coated wood letters – makes for a perfect table centerpiece.  These flowers are a super easy diy project too!

This party features a stunning hanging sign behind the party table with the birthday girl’s name.   The name banner across the front of the table ties it all together.  I love tables that are flanked by balloons too.  This is the easiest way to build height and create a visual statement when decorating your party table.

Rather than a single central main centerpiece- this party table has doubled each serving plate, cake and cupcake stands.  This is another great decorating visual trick – creating a mirror effect across a long table with the placement of two identical serving trays and duplicating each food set up.

I hope you are inspired by these stunning pink and gold parties today!

Watermelon Cake Recipe

WATERMELON CAKE RECIPE

Watermelon Cake Recipe

Summer and watermelon go together like cake and birthdays. . . so why not have all four!? Time to bake a summertime sweet dessert.  Watermelon puree and Jell-O give this cake the perfect flavor.  The frosting looks just like a sliced watermelon but is yummy too.

Watermelon Cake 1

Let’s get to baking and the cake recipe-

Ingredients

    Watermelon Cake

    • 1 box white cake mix
    • 1 (3 oz.) box of watermelon Jell-O powder (reserve 2 teaspoons for frosting)
    • 1/2 cup watermelon puree
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1/2 cup oil
    • 4 eggs
    • 1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
    • red food coloring

    Watermelon Cream Cheese Frosting

    • 8 oz. cream cheese (softened)
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
    • 5 cups confectioners’ sugar
    • 2 teaspoons watermelon puree
    • 2 teaspoons watermelon Jell-O powder
    • red and green food coloring

    Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line the bottom of 2 eight inch round pans with wax paper, and spray or grease the sides with cooking oil.
To make the watermelon puree: Cut chunks from the center of a fresh watermelon and remove any seeds. Place them in a blender and puree.  Set aside.
In a large bowl, combine cake mix and Jell-O.  Add water and oil; mix on medium speed with a mixer.  Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.  Add in the watermelon puree and beat until blended.  Finally, add red food coloring a drop at a time, until you reach the desired color.
Before adding your chocolate chips- coat them with a small amount of flour – this keeps them from sinking in your cake while it bakes.  Place chocolate chips and a teaspoon of flour in a ziploc bag; shake to coat.
Fold the chocolate chips into the batter. Pour into pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and butter together. Beat in watermelon puree. Gradually add sugar and Jell-O, beating until smooth. Color 1/3 of the frosting green, color the remaining 2/3 the same color as the cake.
Trim the brown edges off the cake before frosting it.  Use the pink frosting between the layers and on the top of the cake. Spread the green frosting on the sides and outer edge of the top of the cake. Lastly, press mini chocolate chips on the top of the cake frosting to mimic watermelon seeds.

Now slice and eat up! YUM!
