Let’s get started with making these fun utensil holders.  Gather your supplies.  I’ve made it easy for you to order online- simply click on the supplies below.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

Mason jar
Red paint (use multi-surface or glass paint)
Black paint
Light green paint
Darker green paint
White paint
Paint brushes
Jute twine

Once you have everything you need to get started, lay down some newspaper to protect your table or work area where you will be painting.

First, wipe down your jar or jars with rubbing alcohol to remove any oils from fingerprints and any dirt.  Allow to dry for about ten minutes.

Start by painting the lower part or the bottom of the jar with your lighter green paint and allow to dry. Add a second coat when dry.

Paint the top of the jar with red paint. Paint a second coat of red when dry.

After your initial two coats in each color are dry, paint snake-like curvy lines in a vertical direction on your lower green section to create the appearance of the watermelon rind.  Don’t be concerned with how even these two colors are at the middle because you are going to paint over the meetup point of the two colors on the jar which will therefore clean it up.

Next, divide your red and green painted sections on the jar by painting a nice even and straight line with your white paint.

Add a few watermelon seeds to the top red area in a random pattern.  TIP: Rather than painting the seeds by hand, I prefer to use the bottom handle of my paint brush to make the seeds. Just dip the pointed end of your brush into the black paint and simply add a round dot.  Then, immediately, before your dot dries, flip your brush and pull the dot out to a teardrop shape with the tip of your brush.  As a result, this is much easier than trying paint on a perfect seed shape.

Finally, allow your painted jar to dry for a few hours.  Add your jute twine bow at the neck of your jar. Next, fill it up with your forks, spoons and knives.  Now you are ready to serve your guests.

These are so adorable for any summertime gathering!

Pinwheels are perfect as a garland hanging on the wall behind the party table wall or draped across the front of the party table.

Pinwheels were cleverly incorporated as favors but still as part of the party table background at this butterflies and pinwheels party.  How fun and easy to create!

Pinwheels are also ideal as table centerpieces – add them to vases or recycled bottles.

Pinwheels are also perfect as wedding decorations- use them as table number signs or as escort cards.  Give one to each of your guests at the reception check-in with their table number in the center of each pinwheel and then each guest can take a pinwheel home as a memorable keepsake from your wedding day.

The crepe paper streamer table backdrop at this party is so easy to create. Just cut and hang in straight strips.

Anchors and sailboats are the dominate decor at this nautical first birthday party!

This is a great set up with lots of stripes and sand dollars and don’t forget the straws.  Don’t forget if you have some beach decor around the home, those make perfect props at a nautical party table- like the giant anchor, lifesaver, and lighthouse at this party above.

This ahoy party features great balloon styling!  Those columns of balloons flanking the table make a stunning statement.
