Valentine’s Day Mini Cards

VALENTINE MINI HEART CARDS

Last week I featured these cards, along with some other easy Valentine’s Day craft projects, and today I am sharing how to make them.

If you missed last week’s easy and quick Valentine’s Day projects,  which included these adorable butterfly Smarties, you can see all the projects – HERE

Today’s project for the Valentine cards are perfect for making with the kids for a classroom card exchange since they are mini size and will fit in the kid’s card boxes.  They are also fun to decorate with embellishments and stickers or stamp Valentine sentiments on the mini cards.

All that is needed for your supplies is cardstock paper in your choice of colors, red and pink of course for Valentine’s Day, a die cutting machine (Sizzix Big Shot or the Cricut Cuddlebug are the two I use) and the metal die for cutting these designs is We R Memory Keepers Quickutz Mini Valentine Cookie Cutter Die available – HERE

The set comes as two dies and the mini rectangular square die can be cut in white cardstock or light pink for your card inserts.

First cut all your cards and envelopes and decorated your cards, you could also purchase store bought mini Valentine’s cards and slip them inside, if you don’t want to hand make your cards.

Next you will want to cut all your heart envelopes and then you are ready to assemble.

Once your mini cards are placed in the middle of your cut envelopes, simply fold the two hearts together in the center (the die even perforates your fold lines for you) and lock your hearts together with the pre-cut slits.

Next you can decorate your outside envelopes with even more and bigger hearts layered over your smaller hearts and cut down the middle for opening, like this –

These can also be placed on top of Valentine gift boxes –

So there you have it, easy Valentine cards to make with the kids.

I have all the favors you need for Valentine’s Day and to help you with decorating an upcoming party.  Here is a sneak peek of the new Valentine’s Decor I am offering in my shops –

This year I have added more hanging fans and balloons to the shops too!

Everything you need for a stunning Valentine’s Day celebration from bags, tags, hearts, boxes, stickers, cupcake toppers, banners and more!

Pinwheels are also perfect for any celebration.

Now for some easy diy projects that you can make yourself at home.

Heart Kisses – So easy to make with some punched or die cut hearts and glued wood picks to the back.  Easy peasy!

Mini heart Valentine’s cards – I’ll actually have a full detailed tutorial next week on how to make these little cards.  Come back next week for the full project how to!

Hanging heart streamer – so simple to create with strips of cardstock paper glued together, folded at the base and rolled ends (use a pencil to roll and shape these) and then glue your two rolled pieces together to make the heart shape.  You can add your string as you make each heart but I find it easier to just use a threaded embroidery needle to thread all the hearts together after you have made them.

More hanging hearts and even easier to make by punching or cutting 6 hearts, folded in half and glue each half side together- don’t forget to add your looped string in the middle before gluing your last heart together.

Flying high with you. . . Valentine Smartie favors made with lifesavers, stick gum, and Smartie rolls into sweet treat airplanes!  How fun to make with the kids too – some glue and rubber bands are all you need.

Owl Pillow Boxes- so easy to decorate.  You can even recycle and use shaped paper towel rolls for these too.

Give a special gift inside a beautifully decorated box for your Valentine.

A Unicorn Valentine card box would be so fun at a classroom party and will hold all those exchanged Valentine cards.  Just use any box and cover with white wrapping paper or layers of tissue paper and add some eyes, ears and of course a unicorn horn at the top!  Remember to cut a slit or hole at the top for slipping all those cards inside!

Many more ideas for simply ways to incorporate Smarties into your Valentine favors or projects too.  Thanks for stopping by the blog!
